As technologies evolve, communication becomes simpler, more instantaneous and more efficient, leading to the development of new communication tools: cloud services, video conferencing applications, instant messaging etc. Today, with the democratization of these tools in the workplace, new collaborative work solutions have been developed, such as teleworking, whose benefits have been proven many times over.
But what are your thoughts about remote collaboration in virtual reality? How about using today’s technology to its fullest and to our advantage?
Interact: import, physicalize, scenarize, deploy, collaborate
Created by LS GROUP and co-developed with the CEA, Interact is a powerful platform based on Unity to develop & build interactive and immersive experiences in no time in Virtual Reality (VR) or Augmented Reality (AR).
Unique, it is the only platform capable of importing extremely large point cloud files of an infinite number of points for any use: product review, collaborative design, ergonomic analysis, scenario setup or validation, simple visualization, training, prevention, etc.
Furthermore, its top of the edge physics’ engine XDE allows the animation of very complex scenes, collision detection and precise physics simulation.
Communicate and collaborate better in VR
In the 20.01 version of Interact, a new collaboration framework (XSM2) was introduced to let several people interact in VR remotely: users can collaborate, search, brainstorm or teach as if they were in the same room, in the same environment wherever they are and at any time.
To tell you a success story, we achieved a VR collaboration between PSA in France and Opel in Germany: See our post on LinkedIn.
No system restriction
Whatever the restitution systems used (HTC Vive, Oculus Rift, Screen/Keyboard/Mouse, etc…), users can interact with each other flawlessly.
Freedom of creation
To create any simulation and any scene, users have at their disposal pre-configured environments, a range of tools and an industrial library ready to use: Screenshot, VR Post-it, Timer, Measuring tool, Programmable Robots Models, Conveyors etc. Plus, users can now import their own media such as images, videos or PDF’s to enhance the experience!
Time and money savings
No more travelling, more time to spend with your co-workers in an extended virtual workspace of unlimited square meters, while protecting the environment!
Breaking frontiers of remote collaboration
Meetings and collaborations in a virtual environment enable activities that are impossible or very difficult to perform remotely, especially for creative environments such as product reviews, collaborative design or training through tutoring.
Interactions for a better collaboration
Although videoconferencing and audio calls are useful and keep people in touch, with VR collaboration, users can point and move around as in real life while being at a distance. This gives us the impression that the person is actually in front of us and therefore creates a more human and realistic aspect.
